The holidays are here and while the kiddos are ecstatic I think I’m even more so. But when you have 2 weeks on your hand and not a trip planned ..it’s always good to come up with some creative ideas for the kids so as to keep telly-time to an absolute minimum.
Finding a host of creative outlets can sometimes be a challenge… I’ve found over the years that I need to plan well in advance and stock up on supplies so the kiddos have a creative outlet to channel their energies. This holiday was no different and whilst we set out to make puppets and paint, my daughter was yearning for something more-girly to do with her time.
She definitely got her wish for not a week into the holidays, she received the Barbie™ Color Stylin’ Hair Doll to experiment and get creative with. I’m sure every little girl vouches to be Barbie’s No.1 fan and my daughter is no different. She loves them so much, she’s collected umpteen over the years.
So you’re like thinking what is our (mother & daughter) obsession with Barbie…. actually the answer is quite simple. Barbie is produced by Mattel and if you’ve ever had a toy from Mattel, I’m sure your pretty much still have it till today. Mattel has always produced toys of outstanding quality…all of the Mattel toys that my husband and I bought from when our lil’ girl was a baby still remains in the family toy-boxes and that 3 kiddo’s later too.
Ok, so back to the topic at hand…how did my Lil’ Girl like her latest addition, Barbie™ Color Stylin’ Hair Doll. Lets take a pictorial walk through, shall we….. But first catch Lil’ Girl in her first ever vlog debut on You Tube 🙂
Now I must say I had equally as much fun doing this with my lil’ girl. It was definitely a great way to bond with her and we both had a great time trying out new hairstyles and mixing colors to create different styles. She loves the idea of being a Hairdresser so much, she’s already lined up her other Barbie’s for a Hair Styling treat.
Mattel has once again done a great job of coming up with a range in the“See What Happens When You Play with BarbieTM” campaign that encourages more than just dressing up Barbie is different outfits. It’s a chance for your lil’ girl to try on a new career, a new fantasy and even come up with a new story.
In fact so lovely are the wonderful folks at Mattel that they’ll be giving away 3..Yes!! Three sets of Barbie™ Color Stylin’ Hair Doll worth RM 99.90 each to three creative parent daughter duo’s who are readers of my blog.
The gist of this contest will be to encourage your lil’ girl to to showcase her hairdressing talents by doing up Barbie’s hair in creative, funky, fun or fashionable hairstyles. Be creative, create a party look, a work or shopping look and maybe a hairstyle for a day out at the beach.
Having said that let me just briefly outline the Terms of this contest.

Wow!!! So sweet of you to give your Barbie Collection to your cousins..but that’s the great thing about Barbie dolls..they are so good quality that they’ll probably last 3 generations 🙂 I can see my Lil’Girl handing her collection down when she’s older !!!
What a creative giveaway, Sharon!
Too bad, I don’t have a daughter or a Barbie but this is so exciting. Hope you’ll post up some of the winning Barbie stylings! I used to have a few Barbies (who didn’t!) but I think I used to CUT their hair so that put an end to the styling thing. I was more a mud-pie kind of girl.
Hi ShopGirl.. I do intend to post up all enteries… hoping to see them rolling in inthe course of the 2 weeks this Giveaway is up… perhap you can engage a niece or a bestie’s daughter and help them to score a prize 🙂 As for mud-pies… the only kind I made were those at the beach… I doubt you’d have seen me frolicking in the mud.. I was’nt particularly dainty and sweet but for me the best part about childhood was being surrounded by books… Book Worm..that be me 🙂
Back in the days when i was a little girl, so what twenty plus yearsss ago, Barbie was pretty expensive, yet i still managed to collect quite a few! I had in mind that i would pass them on to my daughter someday, but then they were all donated to the charity. So now my daughter is starting her own collection! 🙂
Hi Casa Del Bebe Kuchiung, I suppose we all start out with the intention of passing on much loved and cherished pieces of our live’s on to our children… and it’a a wonderful thought 🙂 I still have my favourite Enid Blyton books and encyclopedia’s from my time as a school girl that sits in the family library… my daughter loves thumbing thru the yellowed pages..me too ..Haha must be Nostalgia
Aw, too bad I don’t have a kid yet hahaha. Great giveaway! Btw I’m hosting a giveaway, maybe you can join for fun? XD http://voncherie.com/2013/08/08/first-giveaway/
Hi Everyone.. just a note..the age limit is for girls aged 12 and below and not 15 as i mentioned earlier.. My sincere apologies for the typo… 🙂
Reminiscing childhood memories as I am reading this. I was more a lego and action figure kinda girl (okay, still am). But Barbie has always been the damsel in distress in our ‘playland’ where the superheroes would battle to win her heart. LOL. If only making babies are as easy as cooking a Maggi noodles, I’d definitely join this giveaway. *sobs*
Hahah.. I hope Barbie enjoyed being put in precarious situations that necessitated ‘rescue missions’ and having Superman come to her rescue 🙂
What is this with not having lil’ girls to do this with…. Perhaps you can make your niece’s day or the lil’ girl from next door extra happy by teaming up with her to come up with a coiffed hair do or glammed up hair and try to win her a Barbie ..she’d definitely appreciate your creativity 🙂
your lil girl is so cute 🙂 what a lucky girl ❤ great Barbie collections she have! p/s : She sounded so cute in the video 🙂
I am not joining the giveaway, since I do not have a kid yet.. hahaha
Thanks Illy for the sweet words… yup!!! She does seem to have a flair for doing Vlogs.
I was just saying to another friend that even if you don’t have kids ..you can still get this for a little niece or your bestie’s daughter… team effort with the mommy and come up with an Amazing hair-do 🙂
Wow! You got huge collection of Barbie!!
Hi cre8tone… Yup!! My daughter truly loves her Barbie dolls… 🙂
Woww I wish I am still under 12 so I can join !! Barbie was my favourite when I was young.. hahah
Hi Sarah… I know!!! I am tempted to play with my girls Barbie’s just to try out some new Hair-do’s !!!
I thought I wanna join, but my age is almost twice the require age T^T
Hi Carolyn… Thanks for stopping by 🙂 True..how nice if we fit in the age category.. we could be really creative …Maybe help a niece or besties daughter win one… Do share 🙂
