Friday Fun – Kiddos Mosaic Art

Hi everyone, it’s time for another Friday Fun Post.. these are some of my favourite work as I love spending ‘creative’ time with the children. There is something to be said for getting down and letting imagination take flight and one of the best ways to boost a child’s imagination and sense of creativity is by letting them explore it through art & craft activities.

Today we decided to do Mosaic Art. There’s a lot of paper Mosaic Art available in craft stores nowadays.. and they’re lots of fun but then a couple of weeks ago I discovered this Sparkly Mosaic Art and I was hooked. Yes, I am attracted to all things shiny and thankfully the kids are too. So when I saw them on display I had to get as many as I could and the kids were only too excited to get started on their own creations.

What the outer packaging looks like

The Company that produces it is called Sun Boy, I bought these at my local DIY store and it cost me RM 2 a set. Yes,RM 2 ..so you really do not need to fork out a lot of money if you’ want to engage your children in creative activities.

Each package contains a cardboard animal cut out, foam backed sparkly plastic topped stickers and shiny plastic toppers.

The project is really quite self explanatory and there are no instructions, so children have a free flow to stick the designated shapes and colours as they please.  The sparkly foam stickers are easy to peel off, and most children above 4 would have no problem doing this by themselves. As for younger children , it might be good to have a parent on standby to help with the peeling and make sure none of these stickers end up in little tummies.

Even young children can master this as it's very easy to understand :)

The finished work. Gorgeously colourful and sparkly animal sahapes that can be mounted on doors, stuck on a file cover or used for puppet stories.

My kiddos took between half and hour to 1 hour to finish their creations. With the eldest one finishing it faster on account of her more developed motor skills. However an hour of creative time is just great for the younger ones as it keeps them occupied. To make things a little more interesting I let the mix and share their sparkly stickers so that they could have a wider variety of colour.

Happy Children = Happy Mommy !!!

I loved this activity as much as the children did. It’s amazing how an afternoon of fun and crafts can bring the whole family together. Not only did this mean more bonding time but also imagination and creative talents were broadened.  Children love nothing better than working with their hands and art & craft activities are an Amazing way to let that happen.

On that note, Ciao for now and Happy Crafting with your little one’s.

    • @ShopGirl : I’m loving it too.. It’s quite possibly because Art is a lot about kaleidoscopes of colour .. and that’s pretty much equates with my other obsession 😉
